Rez for a fabulous dinner in Minneapolis, Saturday, the 18th--poor planning, I know...

Ridiculously late notice, I am aware; however, any advice on a Minneapolis restaurant where 6 of us can possibly still get a rez for Saturday the 18th that's worthy of a really nice dinner to celebrate a birthday/holidays and have a great time??? Money isn't a factor, and we are a really friendly and fun group (imbibing quite a bit with taxis, of course--we're staying at the W.). We're starting at Bradstreet for cocktails (unless otherwise advised!!) and then where??? Any thoughts?? I so appreciate any ideas and/or comments, and may your holiday season find you stuffed full of fabulous food with a good buzz...

I'd call Alma pronto. In this town, barring the super-trendy places, I don't think you're too close to be able to get anywhere good.....

I went to OpenTable.com and plugged in 6 people for 7pm on December 18th near Bar La Grassa. Perhaps one of these options will fit the bill:

      Sapor -- lovely and underrated
      Saffron -- excellent food
OM -- well set up for 6 people interested in a party
Solera -- tapas are designed for sharing
Cosmos -- doesn't get the love it deserves

Agree with all of the above suggestions, and adding:

        - The brand new The Inn (from the folks behind the Strip Club and Town Talk Diner). Would probably be a good mix of food and specialty drinks, although I think it's more comfort-food based and not fancy. http://inneats.com/

I'll second The Inn. Less than 2 blocks from the W. You can skip the cab and have more money for cocktails!

I don't think OM has been getting very good reviews for a while, I would take that one off the list. and didn't Solera go through a change recently? I would vote for Sapor, Saffron and Cosmos for sure.

My understanding is that the ownership of Solera changed [went from the McKee/Thoma empire to the Graves family empire - owner of Bradstreet/Cosmos btw] but that the kitchen was not changed.

Although I haven't been since he took over the kitchen at Cosmos, I hear word that Hakan Lundberg is doing wonderful things there. And you could just take the elevator up from Bradstreet.

Cosmos has been loaded with private parties lately, but you should check them out, based on the recent buzz.

Otherwise, Saffron will almost certainly have availability. I'm going for my birthday tonight, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
