What is the deal with all new resturants in DC serving shrimp and grits?

      Meaning....?

I have seen shrimp and grits on DC menus for years---namely Vidalia, Acadiana, and Creme.

      Acadiana

Southern and comfort food are in... I actually really like it, but I think some places make much much better versions than others, I had Blacksalt's earlier in the year and their version was great.

I look for versions without cheese which I think kills the flavor. DD&D published the Oohhs and Aahhs version on the Food Network website. It is excellent, but I think it calls for about twice as much spice mix as they use in the restaurant.

while I love garlic cheese grits and love garlic shrimp grits. I have to agree garlic shrimp and cheese grits would be really wrong.

Grits = good, Shrimp=great, Shrimp and Grits=Awesome. Sad to say I've never been to Oohhs and Aahhs, but when I do I know what I'm ordering!
