El Pollon - Anticuchos to die for

My love affair with Anticuchos (grilled beef heart) goes back more than 20 years when Mme Zoe and I took a quick trip to see Macchu Picchu ahead of the Shining Path. Opposite our hotel in Lima was a little bar :Los Tejas where we would sit and drink and eat antichochos which were being freshly grilled on the patio.
We fell into El Pollon at 5100 E. Beverly Blvd East - just off south Atlantic because we saw an ad in the Peruvian local newspaper. Chicken is the main attraction here and the clientele is strictly Peruvian with lots of take away. We ate Papa a la huancaina - very peppery cheese sauce - deliicious (they also have the Arequipa version with green sauce on the weekends) - an order of three big skewers of anticuchos and a Tallarin Verde. Big portions and served with extra chili sauce.
I love ChowHound dives and this is one. They have the requisite Inca cola and desserts.
