Lunch in Rocky Hill, Cromwell or Berlin
I am meeting friends for lunch and want to find a new place in the Rocky Hill, Cromwell or Berlin area. We have been to Elizabeth's, Tomasso's and Portifino's in the past but now want something different. We do not want a chain or a hotel restaurant either. Any suggestions? Jay

We had our lunch the other day and we found it to be just okay. The building is a bit run down and need of some rehab. the service was good but I noticed that a large table next to us was served well after us even though they were there well before us. The food was okay but hardly spectactular. I will say though that the price was reasonable but I am not sure we will go back again. Jay

There's a Saybrook Fish House on the Silas Deane in Rocky Hill a little farther south of the exit from I-91. I don't know if you consider that a "chain" but it can be good and it wuld be different.

re: jdgall
Very true, jdgall...and so is Oyama (with a good arm you can almost throw a softball at it from Baci) if you're in a sushi or hibachi mood.
Hey, has anyone been to The Angry Olive in Rocky Hill (south of On the Border on the Silas Deane)? One of my colleagues has been a few times and enjoyed it, but I have no other intel. Of all things, it used to be Bickford's Pancake House and other random chains over time...but is NOT a chain now.
Oooh, and I know you didn't say G'bury, but isn't J Gilbert's doing their Christmas lunch thing through December? Just to throw another different option in there...

I really love Puket Cafe, if you are all into Thai food.
