La Bergerie, what do you think?

Hello! I was just gifted a redeemable certificate from restaurant.com and i was looking to see where it would be best used while im in VA over the holiday season.

How is La Bergerie? I researched on the board and it seems people like it for the atmosphere and classic French dishes done well, although it is not innovative cuisine.

Has anyone been there somewhat recently? Is it worth a trip, maybe to treat my grandmother?

Thanks!

I have not been to Le Bergerie, but they used to have a reasonable (<$20 or so) three course for lunch that is not advertised on their site. I would give them a call. You will not be able to use the coupon on it, of course, but it may very well still be less expensive than Brabo with one. Definitely looks like a granny pleaser, has a good reputation. Brabo I have been within the last 6 months and it is great, highly recommended. I had the app sampler plate which is not on the menu, but that you can get if you ask for it, offered at the bar and the adjacent bistro. I can't recall what I had for dinner, but it was very good, this type of place, everything is good. Bill was about $100 for two. There is an adjacent market run by same that has absolutely exceptional pate.

Thanks! I don't trust yelp, I need to hear opinions of fellow chowhounders. :)

    2. If you're treating your grandmother, she will probably be more comfortable at La Bergerie if she is at all hard of hearing. I haven't been for several months, but at that time, the food and service was consistent with prior visits.

        great thanks for your input.
which place has better food, aside from atmosphere?

      2. The dinner menu on their website is fairly serious. I would not call in innovative, but I would also not consider it too clichéd, as the lunch menu is.
