Paella at Garces Trading Company?

I'm thinking of checking out the paella on Friday and I'm wondering if any chowhounds have given it a try. I've only been to GTC for lunch, and enjoyed everything I've had, though sometimes the food is overly salty. The paella has called out to me on the menu many times, so I think I'm finally going to give it a try, but I'd love to hear from someone who's alread tried it.

  1. I love Garces Trading Company. I ordered the paella about 2 months ago with my husband. It was made with rabbit, prawns, and sausage and far too much food for 2 people. We took about 1/2 home. It didn't help that we ordered a cheese plate for the appetizer but we were were hungry since the paella does take some time to cook. After we ate the rabbit and prawns, the rice got pretty boring. Now that I remember, the prawns were super salty. But, after we opened bottle #2 of red wine, everything started to taste good...

      Thanks! I think we're going to give it a try. I don't usually mind my food salty, and I'm always happy to take home leftovers. We'll probably skip cheese and get some veggies for apps. I love the artichokes.

    2. don't know about GTC.
      amada has some sort of ailloli in its paella, though, somethign that doens't appeal to me.
      i've spent 2 afternoons of my life in spain, didn't have paella either day, for all I know millions of Spanish people eat paella that way. i make no claims of authenticity. still, though, doesn't appeal to me.
