Looking for a cool fish tank restaurant experience.... Which one is the best combination of atmosphere, food, and price?

  1. For food and price I would pick peach farm, but there is no atmoshphere

    1. East Ocean City would be a good choice on atmosphere and food for a "tank" restaurant. It might be a little pricier than the other two.

I never understand why East Ocean gets love on this board. I've been there 3 times and haven't been impressed. It's not inedible, but I feel like every dish I've had there is better at Peach Farm and New Jumbo. (Dishes I've had at east ocean: Salt and pepper shrimp, spicy salt and pepper squid, twin lobster w/ginger and scallions, oyster w/black bean, dry fried beef chow fun <-- particularly mediocre, and some others I'm sure I've missed.) Are there some amazing dishes I'm just missing? Otherwise I just don't see it.

I've had some great Hot and Sour Soup there, as well as really good S&P Dungeness Crab.

i recommend the steamed fresh shrimp, the king crab - very expensive - the salt and pepper squid and the clams with black bean sauce. I think that East Ocean compares well to these other places. I have eaten at Jumbo quite frequently.

I think they tend to put more emphasis on the high-end fancy stuff crawling around in the tanks (like the King Crab mentioned above). I haven't been there in years, but I went when my company took a large group there, and we basically just ordered out of the aquarium. It was pretty amazing (though the details are hazy) and I remember my boss being floored by the bill. I think it came to about $200 per head.

          2. Jumbo for the best combined experience. Peach Farm edges Jumbo out on food, but absolutely zero atmosphere. Price is very similar.
