Frosting good, cake dry

We enjoyed the cupcakes here on our last visit, when you stood in line and picked them out from behind a glass case. Things have since changed. Now the public grabs their own cupcakes out of a corner window area, very disorganized, you can't tell what flavor you are getting, some cupcakes were tipped over and hands all over the place. Not very appetizing. We tried the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, no where near the flavor of Sprinkles in Beverly Hills. Magnolia has dropped off our favorite cupcake list.

The self serve cupcake tray in the corner window was standard at Magnolia before the long lines. I can't imagine them managing that now.

You could try one of the other Magnolia locations if you still feel loyalty to them.

Am I the only person in the world who still likes Magnolia? Sugar Sweet Sunshine is my favorite, but, living in the West Village, I eat more Magnolia by default and honestly, I don't think they're so bad. Am I that jaded?

If you've got a cupcake craving in the WV, I'm gonna recommend sweet revenge on carmine. Excellent cupcakes with interesting flavors, and they serve wine!

Basically you discovered what most here have been saying for years!

Next time try Two Little Red Hens, Chikalicious, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, or Butter Lane.

Second TLRH, I too feel similarly about Magnolia sucking. Also...I recently discovered they are putting in a Sprinkles on the UES (near 59th/lex)!!!! Not sure on the opening date, but I'm a big fan of their cupcakes and always get some when I go home (Arizona).
