Cardoon or Cardone

Does anyone know where I can buy fresh Cardoon in the LA area? - it's an Italian vegetable that looks like a celery stalk and tastes like an artichoke heart.

My Sicilian mother used to boil it, dip it in egg and flour, and fry it up in a little olive oil.

  1. Your most likely bet would be one of the larger farmer's markets. Either the Wednesday Santa Monica market or the Sunday Hollywood market.

        Try Italian-American supermarkets.

        I've seen it at Claro's OC location, and I'm assuming their LA locations would also carry it.
