Do we HAVE to eat breakfast at Diplomat?

Good morning--I am springing for my family of 5 to rendezvous with other family over Christmas holiday at the Westin Diplomat (Hollywood). When travel we often stay at places where there is free breakfast....so I am trying to plan ahead and line up some options for my teens so they don't stumble down to the Cafe at the Westin in the mornings and incur us $50 breakfast bills. Is there any coffee place, bakery, diner, anything somewhat reasonable and walking distance to the hotel? Thanks so much in advance for any help!

In answer to my own question, post-vacation: there is a nice little place just south of the Diplomat on Ocean Ave, even closer than 7-11--it's called South Ocean Cafe, I believe, and has great Cuban coffee as well as pancakes, smoothies, sandwiches--just what we were looking for. Erratic hours, though, and they weren't always there when they said they would be open. But great coffee and breakfast!

Georgio's Bistro & Market is on the Intracoastal Waterway and serves breakfast. Outside tables are on the water. Very good baked goods. Reasonable prices for breakfast.

Georgio's is all of that, but OP wanted walking distance and that's a pretty good walk. Also a good walk are all of the breakfast options on the Broadwalk on Hollywood Beach. If you want a good walk, there are many inexpensive options there. Sugar Reef, also on the beach, is a little pricier, but has a very nice breakfast.

Well, theys a Seben-Eleben store 'bout a block and a half south of the Diplomat, on A-1-A. We'uns like their donutty things, and their samwiches in the plasticy containers are mighty fine vittles. The good folks there -- bless their hearts! -- make up some mighty fine coffee, and the walk might take a little of the early morning starch outta your young'uns. A breakfast there surely won't take much outta your wallet!
