Anyone been to Spice Temple?

Saw that Perry's Spice Temple branch had opened up in Melbourne and was thinking of trying it after the cricket one day.

Anyone been to either it or the Sydney version?

Sydney is pretty average. Room is very nice, but food isn't authentic enough nor is interesting fusion like a Longrain

Tried Sydney one but won't return. I though the food lacked something, possibly a bit of spice, but maybe better expressed as food that is "too polite". I have loved Perry's previous Asian places but felt this is a bit too formal, he was better at the original Wokpool where the casual atmosphere matched the food better. Maybe the Melbourne space is more casual...?

Well, I'm all booked in. Maybe I'll have a chat with the waitstaff and try and get them to go homestyle on the hunanese stuff.

I went a few weeks ago and was plesantly surprised. We had a large table and did the 6 course banquet and I swear the food just kept coming. I had counted 6 courses and thought I'd need to stop somewhere else, a few more protein courses came out. I'll make it back sometime for sure.

Yes - one of the best nights out I've had in a while. The food is phenomenal and the space is just jaw droppingly beautiful. If you've got a chance to eat there, run don't walk.

Have been to the Syd one twice. Good, but for the price prefer Longrain. The design of the Syd space is nice albeit you're underground (no windows). Good place to retreat from the recent rain I guess!...unless it floods...
