Alameda for Pastries, Cheese and Wine

rcspott Dec 6, 2010 06:55 PM

Flying in to Oakland Airport on Christmas Eve day (about 11:00am) and wanted to swing through Alameda for some cheese, wine/champange, croissants, pastries. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I third them as well - picked up something sweet after a stop by Burma Superstar for lunch (first time ever for the tea leaf salad - yum!) The stollen they had in the sample basket was excellent, but I decided on one of their carrot cake "sandwiches" (two rounded carrot cake slices with the frosting smushed in the middle). I liked it - not too sweet, and lots of carrots in evidence.

For those in the neighborhood on the weekends, it looks like the City of Alameda has put in free parking in all their metered spaces for the holidays.

One stop shop: Alameda Marketplace, which has a great bakery (especially the croissants) and a very good wine and cheese shop.
