Uncured Ham

Anyone know of a butcher where I can pickup a good size uncured ham? I live in Richmond Hill, but don't mind taking a short drive to pick one up.

  1. They are definitely available at Fresh From the Farm at Donlands and O'Connor:

Roast: Ham, BONELESS: MEDIUM, 4 lbs (Pork). NOT smoked not smoked& cured. leaner than shoulder.

But they're boneless--what's up with that?

I don't know... But, it is very possible they would do a special order for a bone-in unsmoked ham. They have accommodated me in similar ways before.

Probably easier, logistically, to find a serious pork butcher who actually cuts hanging meat in-house.

If you know one, please do suggest...

Boneless is actually what I'm looking for. Thanks for this!

You're welcome! Please note that they have small and large sizes, as well. Fresh from the Farm usually have items in stock, but it is best to order in advance, to ensure you get just what you want. I usually use the online form.

This would be a bit out of your way but Starsky in Mississauga has them (Dundas just west of Winston Churchill).

        3. I'm sorry this is so far from you, but Highland Country Market (432 Highland Road East) in Stoney Creek sells excellent quality full uncured hams and shoulders for about $1/lb. My last one was 10.5kg for only $23. They will skin and bone it for you as well, and even grind it if you want.

I plan my sausage making around my occasional trips out that way because the price and quality are excellent.

            1. I have purchased whole fresh hams at Highland Farms for about $1/ lb.
The large HF on Dufferin St. below Steeles may have them, also the Vaughan outlet.
The bones are in, but I'm sure they could remove them in a few minutes.

Thanks Jayt90, Vaughn is certainly a shorter drive than Stoney Creek for my ham. I don't think the Highland Country Market - which is also a meat packer - is related to the Highland Farms though. If you ever get the chance, check out HCM yourself. Their selection (steaks, osso buco, veal, any meat), quality, and prices are jaw dropping. In addition, it's a medium sized grocery store with an unusual selection.
