Appetizer/Tapas places with drinks for a group of women (10-20)

I am trying to set up drinks for my friends and their friends. Looking for an affordable but good quality place for a group of 10-20 women. Looking for options for vegetarian as well and non alcholic drinks.

I prefer downtown. Any suggestions?

  1. Torito - unless that's not quite downtown enough for you.

Thanks! How are the portions there? Are they very small or appetizer sized. I have never been to a tapas bar before.

Two people can share between 4 to 6 on average for a meal and be content. However, veg options on the menu are limited.

Ha - what she said. JennaBean, we think alike!

Small - depending on appetites, I would generally assume about 2-3 plates per person but of course, you'll want to share. I once hosted a party there and planned the menu in advance so everything came out on large family-style platters. You have that option as well. If your vegetarians only eat veggies, they'll be okay but they'll miss most of the highlights on the menu - shrimp al ajillo, patatas bravas with chorizo and the galego steak are my favourites (though the chickpeas with spinch is a great dish). You can also call in advance and speak with Veronica (the owner) and see if they could add a veggie dish or two - their chef, whose name escapes me at the moment, is lovely and very accommodating. It's a very warm and friendly spot with consistently great food - definitely one of my favourites.

I hosted a dinner for 10 or 11 at Torito a couple of years ago and we had tons of food. Nobody (even the picky eaters) went hungry. I spent about $500 on food, with tax and tip, and we probably had too much food. With a group of females, you could get away with about $300 of food, before tax and tip, easily. We ate our way through the menu and included daily specials and higher end items. We had a mix of males and females and everyone was positively stuffed.

We do think alike. I love both the shrimp and the patatas bravas so delish - not to mention the ceviche! It is one of my fav comformt food places regardless of the season or my company. The only time I've had a challenge is with a serious veg who ate cheese but that was the only animal product that would pass her lips. I think she was still a bit hungry when we left. :-(
