The first Penzey's store in North Carolina (Raleigh)

It's now open in Raleigh's Cameron Village shopping center. Next to the Party Shop (near Accipiter, Flying Biscuit, etc).

hallelujah! thanks for the heads up! Their garlic powder is the best, and I ran out not long ago. Was just thinking the other day that I'm going to have to start ordering it online instead of buying in person.

This is such a great addition to the area. Now I don't have to hoard my spices, trying to run out of several simultaneously in order to make s/h on an order worthwhile!

This location appears a little larger than the Penzey's I've been in before. I am confident they will do quite well They are the type of shop that people plan into their travels. The next closest location is in Richmond.

If anyone has prime rib plans in their future, Penzey's English prime rib rub is excellent!

Thanks for the heads-up, cackalackie! Stopped in today and was pretty impressed. Came out with some basic spices, but I'll be back for more...

It's great for gifts. They have the sturdy cardboard boxes suitable for four jars of spices (any size). I got small jars of four different spices and a box . It was like a make-your-own-sampler. The box was 50 cents and the total cost was about $10.

Yep, what impressed me was that the prices seemed really reasonable for what you're getting. Plus it's so close by to me, hopefully they'll do well...

Their hot chocolate is unbelievable, too. We used to bring it back from Minneapolis. Now I don't have to ration it.

Oh I'm so pleased to hear this! I actually bought some this past weekend - although I haven't had a chance to enjoy it yet!

Are prices pretty much the same as in the catalog?

I think they're exactly the same. My sister says going to Penzey's is aroma theraphy. Every single spice/herb has a sample jar that you can smell. Some of their blends are wonderful, my winter favorite is Bavarian Blend ~ mustard, rosemary, garlic and more ~ perfect on roast pork.
