Kashi Frozen Foods

Does anyone have any experience with Kashi Brand, especially frozen foods? I am attempting to be more health focused with my food choices. Along, with having a quick easy lunch time meal, this brand came to mind.

I like kashi cereal and their snack bars. But I HATE their frozen dinners. I'm all for fiber and healthy eating and whole grains, but it took so much chewing to get through one of their pilafs that I had TMJ by the time I was done. The flavour was good though.

I agree about the chewy grains in Kashi frozen meals and they are pretty tasteless overall...I think Amys brand has the best frozen meals especially the Indian and Mexican ones!

This is a link to a site devoted to trying and reviewing prepared foods. One aspect that I like is each review immediately gives you calories, cost, weight watcher points, etc. Writing is usually amusing too!

        I don't do frozen foods.

Thankfully, Chow's James Norton does! A couple of reviews are for kashi products:

I say just look through all the reviews are pick out the winners:

There are some they put out awhile ago and then a newer crop that came out more recently; I think the latter ones are MUCH improved. In fact, the Mayan Harvest Bake is hands-down my favorite frozen entree, ever, though I do cook it slightly less as long as the instructions indicate (I guess that's the whole "your microwave may vary" thing). The early ones were very strongly flavored and not in a good way, I think chicken florentine was one that was particularly bad. But the new ones are better. There's a red curry chicken one that's also good, and tuscan veggie bake is also very good.

The Mayan Harvest Bake is the one I get. I think the flavor is really nice! I may have tried some of the others, but don't recall - this is the one I always buy.

I appreciate all the feedback!!! I am mainly thinking of using these as quik lunch time work meals. Not expecting to be taken away by any of them, just wanted some "foodie" opinions. Couldn't muster falling into a banquet frozen bender.

I buy them regularly at target for quick lunch at work meals. I like the lemongrass chicken and the tuscan veggie bake. I haven't seen the Harvest Bake before - maybe my Target doesn't carry that one. They are pretty good, pretty healthy, and all natural. I agree that the Florentine was not good though.

I personally was extremely un-impressed. I eat pretty much anything and am definitely not a picky eater. I felt like it lacked real flavor and was way overcooked from their cooking instructions.

I've been impressed with the flavor. Frozen plus healthy is hard to find. My grocer frequently has them on sale, so I keep a few for a quick lunch for work when I don't have time to make one.

Just a fyi, some people do seem to get a bit gassy from the grains...

I've tried several of them. They're better than many frozen meals out there, but they're not outstanding. For your purposes though, I think they'd probably be just fine.
