Do you create unique foods?

Juswright Dec 6, 2010 05:19 AM

I had this gold necklace since high school – and I decided to turn it in to one of those cash for gold places. I want to use my new found wealth to take the folks out. My Mother is the meat eater and my Dad and I are not. I am looking at Rendezvous in Cambridge – and other ideas chowhounders can throw at me?

    What's your budget?

Also - just food for thought: you may not get much response to your question if the Chowhounds all think it's a spam post. Consider changing your subject line!

True, but the title does help make this the best thread since the late 20s gentleman who asked where to take the college women he dates:

Since when is 24 "late 20s"?

That was certainly an unintentionally skeevy-sounding thread...

Oops! Mid-20s. I didn't reread the initial post when I retrieved the thread for you. Still an excellently ridiculous question :).

I thought the subject line was creative in my opinion...lol. Budget a lttle over $100.

Is that per person or all told for the three of you? If the latter, somewhere 'ethnic' might be your best bet. You're looking at $25 pp all told (menu price) once you factor in tax and tip. At rendezvous, that will get you an entree, no apps and no drinks. At a decent chinese restaurant, it will get a pretty decent meal.

I thought the title was hysterical.

Also, Hungry Mother...but from many folks' positive experiences, it sounds like Rendezvous is already an excellent choice.

Rendezvous is good. But if you're getting Rendezvous money from Cash for Gold, you'll get Craigie money from somewhere that isn't trying to completely scam you.

Luther, you need to share where's a good place to take the gold. I have some fugly but very pure stuff from my ILs I'd rather convert to $$ for food.

Oh, and to the OP, I've been to Rendezvous just once with girlfriends, and it was a very nice evening with good food, but I don't think $100 will feed 3 of you there.

Great article in the WSJ a few years back:

Thank you, Striper :) Now to sell the idea to my DH...
