When you say "around", do you mean walking distance or does a 10 minute cab radius do the trick as well? If the former, then beyond The Drake itself (which has good food and is cozy), I'd second the rec for Nyood, Delux and Libretto. Maybe Noce as well for more of an old school, but very good, Italian resto. Going a bit further afield, I'd add Hoof and Buca to the list. With all respect to rabbit, I'm also not a fan of Mildred's Temple Kitchen.

There are so many great ones by the drake. One of my favourites is Fressin restuarant. It's between bathurst and spadina on Queen street. Its reasonably priced, great service, and delicious food.

Mildred's Temple Kitchen takes you off the Queen Street strip, but it is only 10-15 minutes walking or a 5 minute cab ride from the Drake. It has a slightly different vibe than the WQW/Os restaurants... especially on the 905-weekends.

The winter menu at the Drake actually looks pretty great. We are going to try to get there soon to check it out.

Heard good things about Union 72 on ossington. Been meaning to give it a try. Pizza Libretto (also on ossington) is really good. They offer a prix fixe menu in addition to their a la carte. You will leave there happy and full.

The Ossington/Dundas W area has a ton of options. What do you like? Price point?

If you're open to that area, Delux and Paramour are my fave on the strip.

I second Delux. In my experience, better than Union, and different price category than Libretto. Haven't tried Paramour though.

Both of my experiences at Mildred's Temple Kitchen were very underwhelming. Rabbit appears to have a different view though.

I too prefer Delux over Union. I haven't been but Salt has been getting lots of love from some of my foodie friends.

Price, atmosphere, type of food... if this is in conjunction with the birthday celebration you might consider Nyood.

Open price, good atmosphere, any type of food.
I was considering that. Is there anything else that I may be missing out on?
