Any decent lunch spots near south (way south) Chicago?

I just moved here and am working on a project on W 115th Street between South Cicero Avenue and South Pulaski Road. Are there any decent lunch spots in this area? I eat just about anything as long as it is not fried or a fast food chain.

  1. That location is not in Chicago, it's in either Alsip or Oak Lawn - I'm not sure which. (Actually you don't need "west" or "south" in the street names either - 115th is south, Cicero and Pulaski/Crawford are west.)

I'm sure there are many notes here about Palermo's, Vito & Nick's, and Top Notch Beefburgers, all three of which are in the vicinity of where you're working.

    1. Actually, you are in Merrionette Park. Palermo's is not too far for you to go (pizza pasta). Top Notch is too far since they closed the one on Cicero. There is a Portillo's (Italian Beef, Hot Dogs, Burgers) on 131st and Cicero in Crestwood that would be worth a short trip.
Also try Louisa's Pizza & Pasa (14025 Cicero Ave) good deep dish pizza.
Nicky's Carryout (14001 Cicero Ave). great Gyros.
      Good luck

      1. If I can weigh in on the location too -- the city of Chicago's official site map confirms that you're right on the edge of Chicago's city limits at 115th and Cicero. But I'll bet you knew that already from your client's mailing address -- the real reason I'm posting is to recommend Koda Bistro, which is about ten minutes away from you at 103rd and Western. You may be surprised at how good it is.
