Christmas Soda

I came across Grandpa Lundquist's Christmas Soda at Cardullo's in Harvard Square earlier today. There is the typical Cardullo's markup ($3 for a 12 OZ glass bottle), but the soda is terrific. I would call it a spiced cola, and it had nice layers of flavors and wasn't cloyingly sweet at all. This one is a real winner.

Now has anyone seen Swedish Glögg syrup for sale around Boston?

Try Karl's Sausage Kitchen in Saugus on Rt. 1. A cornucopia of German and Scandinavian goodies.

Incidentally I popped back into Cardullo's for a bottle of the outstanding Galvanina Orange Prickly Pear soda and I saw large bottles of Swedish Glögg and a very similar German holiday-spiced mixer right by the checkout counter. I may be heading to Worcester next weekend anyway, and so will try to stop by Gift Chalet anyway, but there is indeed a source closer to Boston.

Gift Chalet has an assortment of Scandinavian cookies, ask them for their favorite, it's sort of a very crunchy almond tuile with chocolate over part of it, nice if you like such items. their pickled herring in tomato sauce is also worth trying.
