Canales is leaving Oliveto!

Tonight's Paul Canales' last night at Oliveto. I had no idea! He's been there as long as I've been eating there. I'm gonna miss him a lot, but then again, who knows what it means that his "visions no longer align" with that of the Kleins?

Who can fill us in here?

The Chron reports Canales has signed a lease in the same building as Flora, 468 19th St. That space was offices, so presumably the remodeling, permits, etc. will take a while.

Chron says the name will be Duende, the food will be Spanish-ish, and he hopes to include a retail wine shop, art gallery, and music venue.

Can anyone speak to how things have been since the 4th? We usually go to Oliveto for NYE, and I'm wondering if we can expect things to remain the same.

Could that announcement be more pompous? One reason I'm not interested in ever going back to Oliveto is that they take themselves waaaaaay to seriously. Take the food seriously, but not yourself!
