Goldeye & Wild Rice

Staying downtown Peg' for a few days, near Portage & Main, like to pick up some smoked Goldeye and Shoal Lake or organic wild rice. Any suggestions where to look?

if you are paying more than $5.00 per lb for rice... you are getting ripped off.

as for GoldEye... I much prefer Walleye, smoked in a willow smoke. Goldeye has too many bones.
smoked pike is even really good.

There is a great organic food store south of the Gimli market and opposite side of street. The name escapes me but your hotel should know - they have the best wild rice in bulk. I was in Wpg for the summer of 2009 but how fast the memory fades. I love the smoked goldeye. I make a topping for crackers by adding some grainy mustard. Or make it with cream cheese.

gimleys has both.north end has served me well.the smoked whitefish is even better than the goldeyes
