pork bellies in the Chadds Ford/Kennett/WC region?

FriedClamFanatic Dec 4, 2010 02:16 PM

Gonna attempt a try at making my own bacon withy a recipe i found. Anyone know who has pork bellies easily available in the above area?

Also.........all the butchers i hit seem to have sliced bacon.......I'd love some slabs to slice myself, but most need a special order to do so.

Any help appreciated.....if the pork belly/bacon turns out (good or bad), I'll let you know here.

I know it's a little out of your requested area but Stoltzfus meats in the New Castle farmers market sells them half and whole

I'm pretty sure I saw slab bacon at the Fresh Market in Glen Mills.

I am on my second go at making homemade bacon. First came out awesome, now I'm trying a different cure and smoke style. I get mine at Kolb's Meats in Spring City. Out of your way, but they butcher every Tuesday, you have to let them know that you want bellies.

Kolb's Meats; what a great place! When we lived in Nantmeal, it was a frequent stop for all types of meats, but especially smoked hams, smoked pork chops, and of course, bacon. Are they still operating at the farm as they were when we shopped? A real "country" meat market!
