Hot Pot recommendations north of the 401?
Any suggestions for Hot Pot north of the 401? Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill ... doesn't really matter. Looking for AYCE or set menu.
100 Degrees HotPot (650 Highway 7). book a reservation. great choice of broths and sauces. service is forgetful, so you have to be on them. very clean as well.
Tao's Hotpot (2 blocks north of Hwy 7 just off of leslie). Not as modern as 100 degrees, but the food is great. broths are standard, sauces are standard, meat and veggie options are great and you get a crazy seafood platter with your hotpot.

You probably should caveat this by describing the service requires customers to have a bit of a thick skin. Me and my friends don't care, we enjoy the good food, but I imagine many people who aren't prepared would be shocked at waiters which seemingly give you dirty looks and throw food on the table, roll their eyes, etc etc.
Again, I go here all the time, for some reason its just the way they do things there! We do like it the best though.
You can opt out of the seafood platter and the price per person is cheaper. They open late.
i don't recall the service being bad. its what i expect from an Asian restaurant - and this is no means an insult. its cool to waive down your server with your hands (expected, actually) and you don't get overly friendly service.
otherwise, my only complaint would be the appearance/cleanliness.
I was just at Made in China (Midland/Finch) last night and it was good. The service was very friendly and the food was great. Yummy. Can't wait to go back.
Give Dow's noodle and hot pot new location a try. They have 2 locations in the Hwy 7 & Lesile area- the original one at hwy 7 & west beaver creek while the second new location is just west of their at hwy 7 & chalmers. I prefer the new location since it is much more spacious and has much better decor.
