Best mexican seafood I have had in the Valley is Mariscos Colima, on Vanowen just east of Tujunga. They have a bar. Their grilled seafood platters are quite good, but very large. It can get loud and crowded especially if the mariachis are playing, but the food is worth it.
If they love seafood I would highly recommend Puro Sabor on Van Nuys. Its Peruvian, nothing like Mexican, but, in my opinion, its one of the best restaurants in the Valley. Enjoy!

Flag on the play - Puro Sabor does not have a bar, so if that's a must its off the table.

Sol Y Luna in Tarzana. good & clean and full bar to boot. Bar gets noisy, but dining area is quiet, dark, and friendly to all ages! good food, too!
