Good food in SF

We're visiting for the holidays - two adults and one foodie 8-year-old - and wondering if there are any new must go to places. We're staying in Union Square, but are happy to travel to other neighborhoods. I know there are some good places in the Mission. We're OK on splurge restaurants, but also are interested in local hangouts.

Be sure to do a search (upper right hand corner of this page) for "Union Square." You will find dozens and dozens of suggestions for dining in that general area.

What do you mean by "new"? Have you been here before? If so, when, and what restaurants have you particularly enjoyed?

We make it out to SF every year to visit family in Sacramento. We always go to Tadich and we like the Slanted Door.

        NOPA. Commonwealth. Canteen.

Your actual request seems to be:

"Hi, when we visit SF from Sacto we eat at a few favorite places - Tadich, SD. What's somewhere a little hipper where we can branch out? We're not particularly price sensitive, hole-in-the-wall to mid-range, but nothing too fancy for our 8-year old." --> you should include types of food you like.

I noticed your last request got no responses. I recommend being more specific, although I've seen specific requests get buried too.

Mission Pie. Super casual, supports a good cause and everything is deliciious.

"New" thread which doesn't mention Wayfare Tavern.

Zuni gets my vote. Try Spencer on the Go for a very different SF Experience. Sears' Fine Foods.

My assumption was the OP meant, "new to them."

My assumption is that wolfe was responding to "must go to places."

Una Pizzeria Napoletana might be interesting.
