Best Cheap Lunch Specials?

I'm a college student who's always on the lookout for a place with pretty good food and an even better price. When we became sick of fast food, my girlfriend and I have made a new thing of trying a new restaurant every week, but being on a really small budget we only really hit the places with Lunch Specials. So I was wondering if anyone knows great places to grab lunch at a great price, for under $10 per person. I'm open to places all over the valley, but preferably in the Green Valley/Henderson area or around UNLV would be best.

Fausto's Mexican grill on Stephanie. My go to is the chimichanga.

What-A-Sub in the Black Mtn Industrial Park on American Pacific (down by the auto mall) 50 types of homemade subs. Daily specials include a drink.

With both of these you will usually be waiting outside the door if you go at noon.

Alberto's, I eat at the one in Hurricane Utah, since I am working that way now. The Master burrito w/drink is $5.03 That burrito will go 2.25-2.5# I get it with the adobada (spiced pork). Their chicken fajitas are also really good. The ranchera salsa is really good, if you like some heat. The Alberto's that I am talking about are like a Roberto's Tacos- small places , not the fancy Alberto's on the Blvd.

I joined a couple of the Las Vegas Meetup dining groups which has gotten me out to some new places to eat.

A second for Carlito's, and if your time is flexible, there are some particular specials to take advantage of - on Tuesday's Beef Taco's are $1 after 4 PM, and on Wednesday's their breakfast burritos are half price up to 11 AM (not bad for an early lunch). Thursday is all you can eat Green Chili for 5.95. All good. Register at the counter (usually it is your cell phone # as an ID), and you get an extra discount for each visit.

Near the campus there are a lot of low-priced lunch options that do not give you much more than what you pay for (which you have probably already found). But the Banh Mi at Pho Thanh Huong (1131 East Tropicana) bring quality at bang for your buck prices. And Cugino's Italian Deli (4550 South Maryland Parkway) is an under-rated place with some decent price points.

Not too far from campus is La Cotorra (2660 South Maryland Parkway), a family-run Salvadoranean place, that has $1 pupusas on Thursdays. No frills, but real home cooking, and run by some awfully nice people.

Outside of your target area, but worth a mention for those looking elsewhere on this topic, is that Noodle Palace (5115 Spring Mountain) still has their $4.50 lunch specials going, one of the best Las Vegas values for many years.

Las Vegas is kind of weird regarding lunch. There are few, if any actual low price lunch deals. Most bars and coffee shops in casinos will save the cheap food for the graveyard crowd.

First, the touristy joints... Ellis Island Casino has a $6.95 steak dinner special. It's not bad, but sometimes the wait can be long and tiring. Mr. Luckys inside the Hard Rock has a $7.77 steak and shrimp special. It's not on the menu. Just ask for it. Musashi on Paradise near Flamingo has a lunch special during the week.

You're other best bets are ethnic. Golden Flower Chinese at Russell and Pecos has good cheap lunch specials. Any of the Mexican eateries like Robertos or Faustos will fit right into your budget.

Try the breakfast or lunch specials at Weiss deli on Sunset at Green Valley Parkway.

And if all else fails, try the bars. PTs, T-Bird, Village Pub, etc.

The Ellis Island steak special is now $7.99. It is served 24/7. It is off the menu so you'll have to ask for it. The Hard Rock Hotel's Mr. Lucky has an all you can eat prime rib special afte 4:30 pm and you have to ask for it. Mccormick and Scmicks on East Flamingo and Paradise has a good happy hour special. Buy a drink, even not alcholcal, and get a 1/2 pound cheeseburger and fries for $2.95. This is in the bar area only.

Try Carlitos Burritos at 3345 E. Patrick Lane, Las Vegas (Patrick and Pecos). The burritos are geat and the price is in your range. Ask for them to be smothered (covered in cheese).
