Any tips on where to get good horchata? I've been getting it out of the drink machines at Roberto's and El Indio. Like drinks out of the coke machine it's okay.

  1. I like the one at Mama Testa's. They put coconut milk in though, so it's not entirely traditional. Tasty though.

Mama Testa's Horchata is one of my favorites. I believe El Comal in North Park make their own from scratch. Subtle, but very refreshing and cuts nicely through the spice of their salsa.

I also like Mama Testa's but I am not a horchata expert.
El Cuervo's isn't too bad either.

      2. The Salvadorean style horchatas sold at pupuserías are great. Around here, I am only certain that the place on University (near Super Cocina) has homemade horchata salvadoreña.

        1. Best Horchata that I've had in San Diego comes from Aqui es Texcoco or Menuderia Don Vicente - both of which make theirs from scratch.

Thanks for the tips! Coconut milk horchata made from scratch sounds great!
