Qingdao Garden Open Yet?

crowdingthepan Dec 3, 2010 04:54 AM

I’ve got a dumpling pilgrimage planned for tomorrow (12/4/10), and I’m wondering if anyone who has wandered by Qingdao Garden in the last few days can tell me if they’ve reopened. Also, I know the dumplings are must haves, but I’m curious about trying a few Northern style dishes that other folks have been impressed by. Any quick suggestions from the regional Chinese food obsessives who frequent this board?

Word on the "December Openings" thread is that there's sadly still a lot of work going on inside the restaurant.

Yeah, I peeked in tonight and it looks like they're still a few walls short of a restaurant. :-(

As Boston_Otter said, as of yesterday Qingdao Garden looked like they still had a fair amount of work to do before opening.

Check out the threads about Golden Garden for raves and recommendations about their dumplings. They also feather northeastern Chinese cuisine (some of which also appear on the Quingdao menu on the Qingdao website); you will find recommendations on the same threads.

Another time you might want to try Formosa Taipei in Lexington. Pretty much takeout, though. There are just a couple of seats at a counter in the restaurant.

Thanks for the recommendation. Formosa recently opened a branch a little closer to me in Nashua NH. I dig Taiwanese food, but I'm currently trying to wrap my head (and mouth) around Northeastern Chinese cuisine.

Then you really MUST try Golden Garden, in Belmont. Northeastern is their specialty.

Word on the Davis Square Livejournal is that they're aiming to open next week, once building inspections are complete.
