Mom's Night Out Location in Berkeley

jessinEC Dec 2, 2010 07:11 PM

Looking for a mom's night out location in North Berkeley. 8-10 PM. Cocktails, light appetizers. We tried Fonda, but it was way too noisy (and a bit pricey). Other ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think we'll try Zut. I'll let you know how it goes.

That's a good idea. The tables are widely spaced and it's pretty quiet.

Rivoli is quiet and strikes me as the kind of a place moms would like. Ditto Niza. Cesar and Fonda are deafening.

Rivoli is quiet, but doesn't strike me as a light appetizers and cocktails sort of place, and it's more expensive than Fonda.

How about Zut! or Cafe Rouge

Cesar seems the obvious choice, though it's noisy there too.

I've been to both Fonda and Cesar when they were full, and Cesar is far noisier.

How many are you? If it is just a few, the bar at Lalime's. No problem ordering several apps for your meal, and plenty of decent wines by the glass and a full bar of interesting things.

My moms group loves Nizza La Bella. The food is great and you can hear each other talk. Six Degrees has nice cheap drinks but the food is weird.

Quiet at peak dinner hour + full bar is a rare combination.

Nizza la Bella and Mint Leaf are usually quiet.

What are Vanessa's and 6 Degrees like at that time?

Not necessarily N. Berkeley but here's a couple suggestions for MNO places:

Gather - not the right season but I went there w/ a group where we sat on the patio.
Sea Salt worked out great for a MNO.
Jupiter - again, not the right season but that could be a nice place when the weather is nicer. Outside only though, inside is super noisy.
