Best beer selection in Manhattan?

Looking for recs on stores with great beer selections in general. Specifically looking for a place to pick up bottles of Anchor Steam Christmas Ale.

Whole foods or even Barzini's on 91st and Broadway should definitely have it. Fairway on 132nd probably has it as well.

If you are looking for a specific beer, I find http://www.beermenus.com/ to be helpful. It has both bars and more retail stores (but not bodegas and the like).

Anchor Christmas is not that hard to find, many bodegas and grocery stores will carry it. What section of the city are you in?

Best beer selection in the city is at New Beer Distributors on Houston which is conveniently a few blocks away from Whole Foods Bowery which also has a great selection

Thanks for the tip. I'm on the UWS but can easily get down to New Beer Distributors. I can't recall seeing it any bodegas, but I'll have to take a closer look from now on.

On the Upper West Side, try the Pioneer market on Columbus and 74th Street. They've long been known for their selection.

2nd the Pioneer rec. Also, if you are looking for other stuff (and local stuff), the Whole Foods on 97th has a good selection in bottles/cans plus they have taps (5 or 6 I think) with a rotating selection. DH likes to get growlers there.
