Philly: Palace Royal
Our observant daughter ate in this newly Glatt Kosher restaurant in the Bel Air Shopping Plaza last night and raved about it. Seems the food was nicely spiced; great variety, even though they were 'out' of some of her faves, like lamb osso bucco... (Never even heard of that dish)
The back story is that the owner is a Russian immigrant who had a restaurant there, but when he became Orthodox he sought strict supervision, to enable the large community of observant Jews in Northeast Philly to be able to eat there. Like my daughter--who strongly urged me to try it, even though we are not observant at all. In other words, the food is great.
