Why can't you "add a photo" when you "Edit" a post?

I've forgotten to add my photo(s) on a couple of occasions now and wonder why we don't just have the option to add the photo via an edit?

But you can always Reply to your own post and put the photo there. I've done it more than once.

It's just not something that's ever been built into the software.
