PEPSI Throwback- have you seen it?

ParsleySage Dec 1, 2010 07:28 AM

Pepsi Co. has decided to produce and sell its Pepsi Throwback (sugar sweetened no HFCS) soda year around. Can anyone confirm whether Throwback will be sold in Canada--I haven't seen it around my areas but if anyone spots it please post distance is not an issue!

I'm a little disappointed that it's limited time only, but I did come across it today in Zehrs in Kitchener.

I hope to find it in cases soon, not just the single serve bottles.

        Hi youdonut,

I happened to be at the Metro in Etobicoke on Sunday (the one in Cloverdale Mall) and they had a few cases - $5.99

Bought a few cases in Kitchener... They have (had) 12's... for $2.88 each.
They're selling out all over town (Kitchener, Waterloo) Getting really hard to find.

Not sure if this is still a rare commodity, but the Front Street Sobey's has a bunch in the coolers by the cash registers.

Does anyone know when they stop selling them?? It would be good to know the general duration of the limited time release....

Does this Throwback Pepsi actually taste any different than the "regular" Pepsi? If so, in what way?

I must say, I really don't see much difference, if any.

I guess a big difference though, in terms of "nutrition", is that it is made with sugar and not a corn syrup sweetener. Which is preferable I'd think.

Otherwise, aside from the old logo I can't tell the diff at all.

i found the "throwback" is not a sweet and is missing a little zing that the new pepsi has. Also bought my case @ sobeys on dupont

IMHO it has a cleaner finish and works better as a mixer with rum.

Agreed. I had it with rum last night and it was great. Also tried it with vanilla vodka. I find sugar/cane sugar sodas have a different mouthfeel than ones with HFCS and they aren't as sickly sweet.

Tastes better in the can than the plastic bottle.

I bought one at Mac's the other day. Definitely a cleaner taste. I didn't feel that nasty coating on my tongue that I get from HFCS Coke/Pepsi products.

It's available at the huge Petro Canada at Shoppers World in Brampton. Biggest Petro that I know of.

im pretty sure its available at more places then not at this moment. I know all petro canada gas stations have em, pretty sure Esso, pretty sure all metro and shoppers drugmart. Pretty common now.

I agree with others, I cant really taste the difference, I guess its better to have real sugar then whatever fake crap sweetens pop these days...
