Wonderful dinner at Bistrot La Minette
We had only been to Bistrot La Minette once before, and at that time I was coming down with the flu.
Not a good time to judge, but it did seem like everything tasted good.
This past weekend we were in the mood for French food, and decided to try again. Wow! We all loved it.
The atmosphere is very much French bistro, and is warm and welcoming.
There were so many interesting options on the menu that it was difficult to choose.
Appetizers: I can't wait to return tohave another "flanenkuche", a thin-crusted pizza about the size of a pita bread covered with carmeiized onions and lardons. It had thoughtfully been divided into some strips, easy for eating and sharing. If you like carmelized onions and thin crusts, don't miss it.
My husband was ecstatic over his Oeuf du Pecheur - a poached egg on freshly toasted Brioche,
covered with mussels in a tarragon cream sauce.
One friend had the escargots, which he said were the best ever.
Our other friend had the breaded and fried Cantal cheese, accompanied by cauliflower, haricots verts and other vegetables in what she called a heavenly light lemon vinaigrette.
All the entrees were excellent. One favorite was the cassoulet, which contained lamb stew, duck confit, garlic sausage and other goodies. The fluke was pronounced excellent, as was the steak.
Creamy swiss chard and brussel sprouts were among the delicious accompaniments.
We shared two desserts - apple tarte tatin and the day's special, both terrific.

Parking is not easy here - 6th and Bainbridge - but worth the effort.
I can't believe we have been missing this gem for so long.
