40th Birthday in Amsterdam

Hi, I have been living as an expat in Amsterdam for 4 years. I am now married to a Dutch who will celebrate his 40th in the summer of 2011.

As we are foodies and he has lived here all his life, we have been almost everywhere: De Kas, Wit Uyl, Broek in Waterland, Okura, taste of Culture, Hema: you name it we have most probably been there from hole-in-the-wall to fancy smancy....

So I am really struggling with what to do for his 40th? It needs to be an outdoors dinner (must soak up summer time!) and for about 15-20 people and somewhere in / around Amsterdam! Great wine and food is a must!

Hubby loves cooking and sailing too: so involving those activities with eating is also possible......like a great outdoors cooking school?

i dunno.....struggling! Will someone take up the challenge?

you could get in touch with food designer Marije Vogelzang from Proef at Westerpark and have her design a custom made dinner for your husband. It will probably not be cheap, but it will be special!

if the weather is good, Merkelbach has one of the most beautiful gardens for outdoor eating.

Thanks Klary, I will try check out your second option as I rather have a memorable experience and and an expensive gift, than a dinner than totally burns a hole - our recent wedding already did!
