Round or Oval Ladle?
I’m wondering if there is a benefit to using one or the other. Is an oval shape going to be easier to fill small containers with soup, skim fat from the top of stocks? Any thoughts?
My thoughts: (1) Ovals are going to be marginally easier to pour from, more so if they have a little spout formed on an end. (2) Ovals are also marginally more useful in getting into the "corners" of your pot, i.e., getting more out of it. (3) Ladles are poor tools for skimming--I find a semi-deep serving spoon a lot handier.
