You want to blow their minds? 12 red apples cored and cubed. 3 cinnamon sticks. 2 cloves. 1 cup brown sugar. 2 gallons of water. bring to a boil. simmer for approx 30 mins. add half a bottle of apple jack brandy. Cheers!!!

"Cheers", she said, as she staggered around the bonfire....
This is a devil-recipe, honey. but I'd make it in a heartbeat.

Use any recipe for hot spiced cider (apple cider, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, maybe some citrus peel and/or juice, etc.) and add to it an ounce of dark rum per serving. Festive and warming.

yes, ma'am. and add the booze at serving time, so people can pick and choose.
Also, google Hot Buttered rum. You could bring a container of it to toss in at the last minute. I'd love to give you Mr.'s recipe, but he might divorce me.

This is a hot buttered rum recipe I've had for a while but haven't gotten around to trying - it looks really good, though, might be just the thing for your bonfire!

          1/2 cup butter, softened
          1/2 cup brown sugar
          1/2 cup sugar
          1 tsp. nutmeg
          1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream together, and add 1 pint of softened vanilla ice cream. Store in the freezer. To serve, mix 3 T. rum batter, 1-2 oz. rum and fill the mug with boiling water.

            This looks suspiciously familiar, bio.
(Oh, and did you get my note re; the spoon cookies? They WERE very very delicious.)
but, onto the recipe? the ONLY thing Mr. does differently is add some anise.

Didn't see your comment about the spoon cookies but that's great news - I think I am going to make them at some point in December. Glad you enjoyed! As for the buttered rum, a little anise sounds like a VERY nice addition!!!!!

This is the recipe I use for a Hot Toddy

        1 oz Bourbon
        1 Tbls. Honey
        2 tsp. Lemon Juice (fresh)
        Boiling water
Pour some boiling water into a mug to preheat. Dump out water. Place bourbon, honey and lemon juice in mug, add boiling water, stir to dissolve honey.

This is the recipe I use for Hot Buttered Rum
        1 tsp. Brown Sugar
        1/4 tsp Lemon zest, minced
        3 pinches ground Cinnamon
        A pinch of ground cloves
A pinch of ground nutmeg (or a little freshly grated)
1 Jigger (3 oz) golden (or dark) rum
        Boiling Water
        1 Tsp. Butter
Pour some boiling water into a mug to preheat. Dump the water. Placed the brown sugar, lemon peel and spices in the mug, add the rum followed by the boiling water. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the teaspoon of butter and stir to dissolved. This drink is also good without adding the butter.

You could make several of these drinks and take them to the bonfire in a thermos, just make sure you preheat the thermos before putting the drinks in it.
