Where to find curry leaf in peninsula

Spinal Tap Nov 26, 2010 05:27 PM

I am looking for curry leaves and don't want to drive down to Sunnyvale. Anyone know of a place to get them in the Peninsula?

The following Indian grocers should have them...

    Kumud Grocers, Belmont
    Namaste Plaza, Belmont
India Cash & Carry, Foster City

    India Cash & Carry
1058 Shell Blvd, D Foster City, CA

      Hi Spinal Tap:

Any ideas where I can find curry leaves in the South Bay? I'm in Cupertino

I'm not a South Bay person, but I got a small curry leaf tree at the India Cash & Carry in Fremont. It looks like there is another branch in Sunnyvale from the listings. My tree grows (slowly) in Berkeley, but will do better in your warmer environment. I'm sure they had picked branches inside, too, in case you don't have the space for a plant.

Does anyone know if the India Cash & Carry in Foster City would have the trees? I'd never thought of growing it and would love to.

Most Indian markets around you (and there are many) will have fresh curry leaves when available.

Two weeks ago I was in the Santa Clara area and needed fresh curry leaves myself. I just drove down El Camino and stopped at the first Indian grocery I saw. Turned out to be India Junction, and I picked up a small bag for $1 and also long green chile peppers.

I've seen them many times at Patel Brothers.

I saw some at the Ranch 99 at Foster City. The leaves were in foam trays at the end of the vegetable display case.
