Ice cream PARLOR in Boston/Providence?
Hi Chowhound-ers!
My fiance and I are doing a photo shoot in December for our engagement--pictures to put on those obnoxious "Save the Date" magnets and the like.
I'm generally photo-shy. I thought maybe I'd be distracted from my shyness if I were staring lovingly into my groom's eyes across a huge ice cream sundae. An ice cream parlor--a sweet idea, right?
Therein lies the rub. Are there any ice cream PARLORS any more? Somewhere you can sit in a dining room and share a banana split, instead of being relegated to picnic tables??
We live in Sharon, and would be more than happy to travel anywhere between Boston and Providence. Thank you so much for your help!

What about Hilliard's in North Easton? It's closer to you and the ice cream parlor is very cute.

re: Eatin in Woostah
Hilliard's has great ice cream, but (a) they're not open now, and that space is full of candy, so you couldn't sit in there and (b) they serve everything in plastic bowls or tubs, so it's not the same effect as you could get at Cabot's.
But you should definitely check it out in the spring, it's the best ice cream around these parts IMHO.

re: winedude
I was there in October and they had a separate room that was just ice cream parlor, attached to the candy store. It looked like they were serving ice cream sundaes in glass, too. They had cute little round tables and old fashioned iron chairs. But you're right - they're closed now for the season.

Cabot's in Newton might work, as would Lizzy's in Waltham. How about Sweet and Crafty in Mansfield? Happy engagement!
