Need suggestions for gift certificate in NW DC

My best friend lives in NW DC, close to Cleveland Park and AU. I'm trying to figure out a good place to get her a gift certificate for, as I do not live in the DC area. She is a real foodie, loving the very formal and the very informal, and all gradients in between.

I'm looking to spend about $25 dollars.

Can be a wine shop, a specialty food store, or a restaurant.

Thanks!

    Weygandt Wines in Cleveland Park.

Shop route this the way to go.

      Firehook for coffee/pastries
      Cocoa for gelato/pastries/drinks/light fare
      Yogiberry for frozen yogurt
      California Tortilla--if she's a fan

Or you can get her a gift to the nail salon.

In Cleveland Park I would get it at Palena or Ripple. Neither will get her a full meal necessarily but it should cover a glass of wine and an appetizer at least...or a bottle of wine.

I've decided Ripple is too overpriced, the food. This is probably another discussion, though.

If you want to go the store route, I wonder if Vace would do gift certificates. I'd love to go on a splurge there, with their wonderful cheeses, meats, fresh pastas....

            Hi all-
I have a similar question - I need a recommendation for a gift certificate for a wedding present. I'd like the gift certificate ($75) to cover most if not all of the meal. The couple lives in Alexandria but anywhere in DC would be great. They are also foodies - more into great food than the trendy scene - but any recommendations for hot food places would be great.
            Thanks!

Majestic Cafe in Alexandria...a foody heaven and suggest the Nanas Dinner on Sunday nights, a treat with enough left for a bottle of wine! or dinner there anyother night of the week is great.

Does seem like $25 would go further at a shop than a restaurant. For a wine shop in that area, check on Calvert-Woodley.

Thanks for all the suggestions! She actually works part time at Wagshals for fun (all that food!), so I probably won't get her one there. But I LOVE Wagshals and WISH I had access to it up where I live.

I'll look into the others, so thanks!

In Cleveland Park, I would suggest either Dino or Palena. Both nice restaurants. For $25 she can have a cocktail and a couple of appetizers. For something more casual, 2 Amys--wood fired pizza-- is good.
