I teared up--having lost my mom when I was a kid I treasure her recipes, the cookbooks she used and my memories of her cooking advice. Thanks for sharing!

re: MandalayVA
I teared up too. Except my dad remarried almost exactly a year after my mom died; his new wife expunged the house of most traces of her, including her wooden recipe box with a lifetime of clipped / handwritten recipes. With the exception of two recipes she gave me as a wedding gift, I have nothing to rebuild the food on which I was raised. Including more than 30 different cookes she baked at Christmas.
