Canadian Hound coming to Pitt this weekend!

Hey Hounds - Coming down with a couple of friends to watch the hockey game and was looking for some local hound worthy places...any recs? I've been told to check out: IL PIZZAIOLO and PRIMANTI BROS... are these places worthy of checking out...are there any others?

  1. People think Primanti Brothers is special because they put French Fries in their sandwiches. I've never felt like eating one, and I've been here 11 years. I've never been to Il Pizzaiolo. It's in another part of town, Mt. Lebanon.

Closer to the Consol Center (where they play hockey) are Piccolo Forno in Lawrenceville (closed Sunday and Monday; impossible to get reservations for under 6 people) and Lidia's in the Strip District. You won't have to cross bridges or go through tunnels, which can seriously affect driving on game days.

    Lidia's Pittsburgh

    Piccolo Forno
3801 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201

    1. Primanti's is big, sloppy sandwiches. You get much better big sandwiches and good beer selection at Fat Heads.

For something unusual and creative, try Yo Rita. Crazy drinks, unimaginable soup, and ALL tacos.

These are both on the South Side - not too far from hockey.

      Hope you enjoy your visit.

I couldn't agree more. Fat Heads is light years ahead of Pirmanti's..
