La Bettola di Terroni - anyone been?

Some friends were just there recently and raved about it. Saw a write-up on another site with a very drool-inducing pic of these sugar-topped fritters filled with nutella (one of nature's most perfect foods). I actually didn't even know about this place till yesterday. Any reports from the 'hounds?

  1. I've been once, thought it was okay. I like the small-bites concept. Some dishes were good, some, not so much.

Thanks jlunar - did you happen to try the nutella dessert? I want - NEED - to try these soon.

I AM A DORK. I was thinking of the other Terroni place beside Bettola (Osteria). Ookay, lemme try that again.

I've been once (I'm consistent there, at least...) and thought it hearkened back to the older Terroni experiences I had. I've found that the Adelaide St. location's pastas were really gummy and thick, so Bettola's totally brought me back to why I love Terroni's way back when.

Not cheap, but in line with Terroni's other places, I find. We ate only pastas, which I enjoyed. No nutella dessert for me that night :) Not in a rush to go back, but was happy with my visit, and would return eventually.

    2. My partner and I went for lunch on a Saturday a few weeks is basically "The Best of Terroni" - nice lunch, same pricing as other outlets and our server was excellent. Partner had seared Tuna, and I had the Truffle Mushroom Pizza - both delicious.

Oooh, I've had their white pizza with truffles and truffle oil and maybe sausage as a special at another Terroni before - was that it? It's one of my favourites.

Thank you both for your feedback - looks like a good spot for lunch over the holidays.

It was a white pizza with mushrooms and lots of shaved truffles. Sometimes I find truffles overwhelming - but this was perfection! No sausage on this version.

      2. I have also been there once, and the experience was positive. Everyone at our table had some sort of pasta except one person who ordered a pizza, and nobody had anything negative to say that I can recall (this was a few months back). I remember that the specials board had lots of interesting off-menu options. The space is very nice, a little more upscale than the typical Terroni locations, and there was a lively NYC-ish vibe. Service was good.

In all, I still like the Queen West Terroni location as the best of the bunch, but I prefer La Bettola to the nearby Adelaide Terroni in the Courthouse, which on my one visit had a cold atmosphere, rushed staff, and hastily thrown together food.

"...and nobody had anything negative to say that I can recall" - ha, not exactly a glowing review but I'll take it...:)

Thanks. I agree, Queen West has the best vibe. I also love the soon to be defunct Balmoral location. Adelaide is just too big. I'm looking forward to trying La Bettola.
