Wine tasting in Alexander Valley
On the day after Thanksgiving, I will be wine tasting in Alexander Valley
with a group of 7 or 8 relatives and friends. We already went there several
years ago, and at the time we visited: Hanna, Alexander Valley Vineyards,
Stonestreet, Stryker Sonoma, Murphy Goode and Clos du Bois. A few years
have gone by and this group wants to return. They are an uncontrollable bunch
schedulewise, so I don't think we could commit to precise appintment times,
which excludes Jordan winery. For our return engagement, I would like to vist
Stuhlmuller, Medlock Ames, Trentadue, and I am considering Francis Ford
Coppola, Robert Young, DeLorimier, and Meeker (it is possible we will
return to some of the wineries we already visited, but it would be nice to
add a few new ones). I am aware of Silver Oak, but it is way at the end of the
valley. I am also not too crazy about Sausal, whose zinfandels tend to be too
jammy. Any suggestions, warnings, or recommendations?

Murphy Goode tasting room is off the square in Healdsburg down the block Healdsburg Bar & Grill, not in Alexander Valley anymore. Trentadue & Fieldstone can accommodate groups and have wide range of tasting, reds, champagnes, old vines, ports, Coppola has been renovated and is across the freeway from Trentadue, views from that location are superb, Coppola has a restaurant and bar on location, called Rustic. Trione is off the 101 and is newer and near Geyserville, premium wines, haven't been.Locals in Geyserville has good selection of Dry Creek and Sonoma County wineries. Medlock Ames tasting fee was pricey & was not interested in their minimal selection.
