Restaurants near Lincoln Centre

Hey I'm going to be in Manhattan next week, and I'm taking my mother (not elderly!!) to the ballet in Lincoln Centre for her birthday, it's from 6-8pm, so we'll be going for dinner afterwards. I'm looking for recommendations for somewhere relatively near Lincoln Centre, that is sufficiently special for a birthday with good vegetarian options that is reasonably priced.
I don't ask for much, do I?

Also any other general good veggie recommendations are welcome especially for around the Chelsea area.

Thanks!

Every bit worth the price. My second favorite meal in NYC behind an extended tasting at Per Se.

    2. I would recommend Telepan, but it's nearly as expensive as Picholine. You might check out their menus on-line.

I stopped going to Telepan after having problems with too much salt in the food and in the service. Several different servers seemed way too busy and self-important to be bothered to serve us. I'd gone there frequently for a time, but as the service declined and the food got saltier I gave up. This was a couple years ago. They had hit their stride a bit before that, but then they lost it. Maybe they got it back, but even at their best, they never approached my experiences at Picholine. Also, Picholine is remarkably flexible and fun (despite the more formal atmosphere). I went with two friends who love food as much as I do. We created our own tasting menu with three different dishes at each of five savory courses (15 total), plus cheese and dessert. Gluttonous but glorious. One dish came out wrong. I sent it back (not sure what they had done, but it was really not right), and 15 minutes later it came out as it should be (which was great). Best meal at Telepan was a very nice pork loin and a good gnocchi starter.

      2. Please define "reasonably priced." Also, how far are you willing to go from Lincoln Center?

Out of curiosity, how long does it take to get from area the original poster is looking asking about to the Gramercy area? Roughly 8:30pm on a Thursday night by taxi?
