Trattoria Nostrani news (Santa Fe)

Erich Nov 24, 2010 06:47 AM

Owner Eric Stapelman and Trattoria Nostrani chef Nelli Maltezos have revamped the Nostrani menu and wine offerings, and will be offering a $35 three-course prix-fixe menu, with your choice of antipasti, primi and secondi courses (three selections per category), as well as weekly specials on wines — 10 selections each week are $35 or less per bottle. " The new wine list is only seven pages long (down from 27) and all the $100+ bottles are gone.

Stapelman is also opening Shibumi Ramen Ya, a 15-seat noodle, sake and otsumami (small plates) eatery adjoining Trattoria Nostrani in a few weeks.

Still no news on the "update" of the poorly-applied fragrance policy that seems to keep more people away than it attracts:

LMAO! We were at Joe's Diner for breakfast a few weeks back, and a lady in the booth behind us gave the waiter an unbeliveably hard time and he said, it's only Downy on my shirt.
She was really obnoxious, I wanted to deck her. Joe's by the way was a great disappointment, small portions and only so so food.

So did Shibumi open yet? It sounds great - my husband is a huge ramen fan.

From the New Mexican article linked supra:

"Stapelman revealed that in a few weeks (around Dec. 6), he'll be ready to open Shibumi Ramen Ya, a 15-seat noodle, sake and otsumami (small plates) eatery adjoining Trattoria Nostrani that was originally scheduled to open in September. "
