Any hope of finding a Thanksgiving brunch around Wilmington, DE?
Yeah, I know that we are down to the wire with our timing. Unfortunately, that is what we are working with this year. I would love to find some place to go on Thanksgiving that does not involve me having to cook. Our constraints? Vegetarians and picky kids. Brunch seems to always work well for us, but I cannot find a single place that is serving a brunch type of menu. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Just posted this on another thread, but thought it might be helpful going forward if you find yourself in a similar situation in the coming years. Also, I'm vegetarian, so with that in mind I'd strongly recommend it (although it's a bit on the pricier side for a large group):
Longwood Garden's Thanksgiving buffet. You're seated in their gorgeous ballroom, which is in the conservatory. Buffet price includes admission to the gardens, and the holiday display is well underway. As for the food -- lots of fresh salads, different kinds of stuffings and cranberry sauces, (my favorite) their mushroom soup, salmon, pastas, carving station with ham and turkey, a mashed potato station (sweet and white with fixings), a children's station, dessert, etc., with many of the ingredients grown in their greenhouses. I'd been for their Easter buffet and loved it; this is the first time I've been in town for Thanksgiving and will be tempted to change my travel plans going forward. Yum.

Thanks for the suggestions. I originally had reservations at Deerfield, but then spoke to them and they really do not have much in the way of non-meat items. The same is true of the other suggestions, though I appreciate the effort. I know that some bigger cities have Thanksgiving brunches or even vegetarian Thanksgiving meals and I was hopeful that I could find something around here. I guess I better come up with Plan B.

They're not particularly brunchy, but Lamberti's Waterfall Banquet Center in Claymont is having a Thanksgiving buffet starting at noon. http://www.waterfallbanquets.com/menus/thanksgiving.htm

I'm not sure why you would be expecting restaurants to be serving brunch on a Thursday, on Thanksgiving. Are you looking for a Thanksgiving buffet? Or things like eggs and French toast? If it's the latter, I'd say forget it. If you want a Thanksgiving meal, buffet or not, I would suggest calling the Green Room at the Hotel DuPont or perhaps Columbus Inn.
