Sufganiyot?

  • 5

So seeing the Chow Hanukkah highlight of this Israeli Jelly Donut, I am wondering if anyone knows of a good place in the East Bay that serves/makes these this season?

I called Sauls last week about their Sufganiyot and they do sell them but Grand Bakery in Oakland makes them. I could be wrong but I think Saul's only has certain days when they sell them so I would check first

The one time I had them from Saul's I was seriously disappointed. They weren't filled at all, just room temperature fried dough. I like the ones from Grand Bakery. I've served jelly donuts from Krispy Kreme and everyone's been happy as well!

Excellent, that's on my way home. Thank you!

      2. They aren't too hard to make if you're so inclined, and it's fun for a group to roll, fill, and pass them to the fryer. I have a recipe from the NY Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/21/din....
