Winning Hell's Kitchen: No Guarantee You End Up In The Kitchen

ChinoWayne Nov 22, 2010 04:41 PM

Holli Ugalde may have been able to out cook or out game her competition to win the last season of Hell's Kitchen, but for some reason the British government will not grant her a work visa. So no Savoy Grill for Holli.

im fairly certain if i was opening a resto i would never want any of the contestants on that show as my chef de cuisine. being able to outcook several other people who also couldnt cook their way out of a plastic grocery store bag is not sayin much.

You'd think they'd have sussed that out in the first place.

I wonder if that would have been the case for anyone, since they'd basically have to say that a British person couldn't be found to do the job.

I want to say something similar happened to the very first HK winner -- IIRC he had his choice of either going to London or opting for the cash. He took the cash and opened his own restaurant somewhere in LA, I believe.

i think that kid with the long hair (danny?) who won a few seasons back wound up leaving his position early as well.
